For years I have noticed my body's quick reaction to perfumes and "Air Fresheners": headaches, sneazing, scratchy eyes . . .
I always thought I was "allergic." I failed to realize that everyone is. This is becuase these substances are made of TOXIC CHEMICALS that have an adverse effect on all of us, including our furry little friends, whether we realize it or not.
I came across this very informative article today in my "Google-ing" that discribes how air fresheners kill our ability to smell using nerve-deadening chemicals, coating our nasal passages with an oily film. These "Air fresheners" are polluting our homes with carcinogens and hormone disruptors.
Here is the link to the article it's a must read!
-1st and foremost: Keep your home clean on a regular basis ( Thats where I come in : )
- Fresh Air: Open your windows and let some fresh air in especially while we have this beautiful summer weather!
-All natural essential oils:
Using a recycled spray bottle mix
1 cup water with 3-6 drops of any mixture of your favorite essential oils. For the summer I have been using a mixture of:
2 drops Lemon oil
2 drops Sweet Orange oil
2 drops Lavendar oil
Spray wherever you like!
There is a list of ways to use essential oils to freshen your home and your spirits. . . I will be sure to blog about these often!
- Pot-Pourri: This is a great one for fall and winter!
Using a small pot
-fill 1/4 with water
-1/4 with Apple Cider
Let it simmer on low, just be sure to keep an eye on it!
